Are you being scammed by Facebook ads?

I've written a bit lately about how cyberthieves using social media to scam people. It turns out the most egregious scammers are many "legitimate" companies that run deceptive ads on these networks.

Microsoft Pulls Out of Family Guy Special

Well that was fast. Microsoft has yanked its sponsorship from an upcoming half-hour special on Fox featuring Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, according to Variety.

Contrary to the claims of online marketers, most U.S. residents do not want to receive Web advertising tailored to their interests, according to a study released Wednesday by two universities.

Facebook is partnering with Nielsen on using a system that gathers feedback about whether online display ads are influencing Web users.

Who watches the baby-sitter?

We assume that our security software is there to protect us. Sometimes, though, as in the case of Sentry and FamilySafe kid-filtering software, the software is actually harvesting their information for advertisers.

Sidekick: The Good News & the Bad News
Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
