IBM on Wednesday announced a slew of products and services in support of its sprawling Information on Demand portfolio, including a new "Information Applications" software unit.
Equipping delivery people with mobile devices may seem old hat, but Kevin Flowers had a new idea. The director of enabling technologies for Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) realized that equipping drivers with mobile devices provided a wealth of data for analytics beyond the trucks and deliveries.
IBM has bought the data discovery software assets of Exeros, and will use them to enhance the services offered by its business analytics consulting division, the company said.
Microsoft Corp. will bring BI and analytic services to its Windows Azure cloud computing platform, though it is unlikely to arrive before 2013, an executive said Thursday.
