Details are still trickling in, but a fire in Authorize.net's primary data center in Seattle took the service off line for a few hours today. The backup data center was also impacted, but details are still hazy. Service should be back online by the time you read this.
Authorize.net is used by many small to mid-sized business for credit card processing.
Authorize.net has set up a twitter account to help get information out. Their website remains offline at this time.
If you're running credit cards through Authorize.net, sorry to interrupt your long weekend, but you'd better check your applications!
Where Google Chrome security fails: the password I heard mention that the Chrome OS will have some sort of encryption available a la bitlocker. If it's possible to encrypt personal data using another password or key, then it may have potential for very secure data.... And Ubuntu has an 'encrypt home directory' option, perhaps google should follow suit.
