Barnes & Noble's e-book system has one feature Amazon doesn't: a software e-reader that runs on PCs. But yesterday Amazon announced Kindle for PC, so now both sides will have a software solution that no one wants (yet). Also, Kindle US version is gone, and the Nook's book lending feature is crippled.

Android is known for smartphones but the mobile platform will also power the new Alex e-reader from a Fremont, Calif., company called Spring Design Inc.
Plastic Logic has put to rest the unlikely rumors that a color Barnes & Noble branded e-reader will launch next spring. Also, Endless Ideas launches a new e-reader and some bad news for future Kindle International purchasers.
