Thanks for taking the time to post your comment and the links to GoGrid, its paper, and your perspectives.

There are numerous flaws in the Berkeley paper, but I was aiming to point out some of its positive arguments. My experience has been that customers don't consider ALL of the costs/benefits of cloud computing because some of them are subtle. This piece points out some of the less obvious items to consider and the paper provided exceptional examples to illustrate.

I appreciate the feedback,

I appreciate the feedback, but do not agree with the content at ExecutiveBrief. In the many conversations I have had, firms of all sizes are taking advantage of the SaaS model. I will highlight a few of them over the course of the year to illustrate my point.

That said, please continue to challenge the thinking here so everyone has a chance to learn from each other. Thank you!

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
