Lunatic doctors spend valuable surgery time "tweeting"

By Amy Bennett  3 comments

Doctors at a Dallas hospital "made history" (for certain limited definitions of "making history") by sending a series of Twitter updates throughout a child's kidney transplant surgery this week. The child's parents were happy for the information, though if social media sites like Twitter are distracting for ordinary office drones, isn't their use in surgery troubling?

I totally believe this could happen. Read how 2 other lunatic doctors killed a kidney transplant during surgery on my son and sister-in-law.www.kidneytransplantkiller.com

OK, so you obviously think Twitter is a trivial waste of time. That's fine, and at times it certainly can be. But do you hate it so much that you'll overlook key points from the article to support you're biased and, quite frankly, narrow minded and childish conclusions? Or is this just a cheap grab for page rank? And do you really think people who read your little link-bait diatribe are too stupid to read the linked article and draw their own conclusions? Great, so you not only think Twitter is stupid as well as the people who use it, but you also seem to have a low opinion about you readers as well. This was an arrangement between the staff and parents to keep them updated about the progress of a life saving and risky procedure of their 3-year old. They were waiting several years for this surgery, were nervous about it, and were comforted greatly by the updates. Form the article it seemed obvious that the staff and all involved were responsible about it and had someone dedicated to posting updates while the surgeons performed the procedure. And the medical centre felt it was a great way to raise awareness about the importance of organ donations. What's so wrong about that?

I am going to highly doubt it was the doctors that done the tweeting. In fact.. it wasn't "Texas Staff 'Tweets' During Kidney Transplant". Key word... STAFF. Meaning someone that was viewing or rather commentating on the surgery tweeted it.Shy bit of difference than your headline and intent to burn twitter.I don't use this, fact I see it as a complete waste of time and resources. Turn all their servers into folding machines for Folding @ Home IMO.
