Many vendors say they love small businesses, but do little beyond talk. HP directs a huge amount of resources toward both small business education and their reseller channel, which provides the majority of their sales contacts with small businesses. HP just released a series of videos, including your humble narrator, called Insight from the Experts. My video is titled Backup Up Your Business.
My segment starts by describing the huge numbers of notebook computers lost or stolen each week, and how to properly backup your notebook and other systems to survive data loss. Then I give a quick overview of my Pirate Backup System.
Other topics in the five part video series include Green Your Business (Anita Campbell), Get Your Business Online (Peter Shankman), Mobilize Your Business (Ramon Ray), and Grow Your Business (Rieva Lesonsky). Each video provides far more value than just about anything else you can do in 15 minutes, so grab some more coffee and watch one now and then.
Thanks to HP for giving me and the others a forum to talk about what we consider important for small businesses. Thanks to HP for making the taping and the group dinner fun. Finally, thanks to HP for sending a thank you gift of a mini-notebook model 2410. Every other vendor calls this a netbook, but HP like mini-notebook and it's their unit so they can call it what they want. I'm testing this netbook in a variety of ways and will report back now and then on my progress.

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
