Vodafone Group PLC and Verizon Wireless Inc. are developing a laptop data card service that will allow business users to access the Internet, their e-mail and corporate applications while traveling between the U.S. and Europe.

The companies are working on development of data card hardware, service inter-connectivity, roaming and inter-operator billing for the dual-branded "Verizon Vodafone" service, they said in a statement Friday.

The data card will be based on Vodafone's Mobile Connect Card service and will allow users to access information from Verizon's wireless network in the U.S. and Vodafone's GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) network in Europe, the companies said.

A representative for Vodafone, in Newbury, England, could not say Friday when the data card would be available. While pricing has yet to be set, it will be similar to that of Vodafone's Mobile Connect Card which costs around
