November 18, 2003, 5:10 PM — AT&T Wireless today became the first U.S. carrier to offer nationwide GSM service with its high-speed EDGE network. The move is a challenge to other carriers, particularly Cingular, which rolled out EDGE service earlier this year in limited areas but hasn't gone nationwide yet.
