EU restarts investigation of Oracle-PeopleSoft deal
The European Commission has restarted the clock on its in-depth probe of Oracle Corp.'s hostile bid for PeopleSoft Inc., a spokeswoman said Monday.
The clock was stopped because the Commission needed further information from Oracle.
"Oracle has supplied all the additional information we requested," said spokeswoman Amelia Torres.
The new deadline for the Commission to rule on the takeover is May 11.
According to PeopleSoft, which is opposed to the takeover, officials at the U.S. Department of Justice have proposed prohibiting the deal. Torres said that a decision by U.S. regulators will have no effect on the Commission's assessment of the deal's impact on Europe.
