Cambridge, MIT launch new drug discovery initiative
The Cambridge-MIT Institute (CMI) is hoping to speed up the discovery of new drugs for complex diseases such as cancer, diabetes and arthritis by launching an initiative to bring together scientific and IT professionals so they can share their knowledge and collaborate on next-generation drug research.
CMI, a partnership between the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, said on Thursday that it is funding a transatlantic Next-Generation Drug Discovery Community to bring together experts from both institutions, as well as partners in the biotech, pharmaceutical and IT industries.
