    Back in the 80s and 90s, IT employees with MBAs were a rare breed. Nothing but experience and ability were needed to obtain IT management positions. However, currently, it is an entirely different story. Even online MBAs have technical specializations (such as Management Information Systems and eBusiness to name a few) and they are nearly becoming a requirement to break into the ranks of upper management.
