Apple notes intermittent MacBook shutdowns
Apple has published a terse note effectively requesting feedback relating to reports of intermittent shutdowns affecting MacBooks.
An undetermined but minority number of users have experienced a problem in which their MacBook begins inexplicably shutting down during normal use. The note is available at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304308.
This problem is understood to manifest itself after the computer has been used without problem for an indeterminate time. Some reports claim that random shutdowns also occur when the MagSafe Power Adaptor is suddenly removed from the Mac.
While not all users are affected by this, Apple's technical note urges users who are to "contact AppleCare for service" in situations in which MacBooks shut down "intermittently."
A Web site published by affected users may have drawn Apple's attention to the "intermittent" problem that seems only to affect a small congregation of MacBook owners. The Web site can be found here: http://www.macbookrandomshutdown.com/.
