Pushing deeper into the market for mobile phone applications, Adobe Systems Inc. has agreed to acquire vector graphics technology developed by French vendor Actimagine.

The acquisition will complement Adobe's growing portfolio of mobile technologies, including Adobe Flash Lite, and help the company extend its reach beyond high-end mobile handsets to high-volume, mass-market devices, Adobe said Wednesday in a statement.

Under the terms of the agreement, Actimagine will also incorporate existing and future versions of Adobe Flash Lite technology into its service offerings, including its Mobiclip software video codec.

Financial details of the acquisition were not available.

Flash technology enables mobile phone operators, handset makers and content providers to offer rich mobile content across a wide range of mobile devices, operating systems and processors, according to Adobe.

More than 115 million Flash technology-enabled devices have shipped worldwide, the company said.
