Ex Compaq execs launch Web portal

December 11, 2000, 10:55 AM —  Computerworld —

Three former Compaq executives -- Gary Stimac, Doug Pushard and Mike Swavely
have launched an Internet portal company called OfficeDomain Inc.

The Austin-based company's first offering, a messaging service that merges voice
mail, e-mail and fax messaging into a single system accessible via OfficeDomain's href="http://messageasap.com/portal/frameset.cgi" target=NEW>Web portal site, is
free of charge.

Company officials say the portal site and messaging service will compete with
similar services offered by GTE Corp. in Irving, Texas; eFax.com in Menlo Park, Calif.;
and Yahoo Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif.

Doug Pushard is OfficeDomain's CEO and president. Pushard led Compaq's drive into
networking and was Networking Products Division vice president when he left Compaq in
November 1996.

OfficeDomain's chairman is Gary Stimac, the founder of Compaq Computer Corp.'s
server and systems business. Stimac worked at Compaq from February 1982 to July 1996.

Mike Swavely sits on OfficeDomain's board. He joined Compaq in 1982 and was the
company's second in command (USA president) when he decided to leave in July 1991.
