Loudcloud unveils software for application management
Loudcloud Inc. is aiming to make server management easier with 60 Intelligent Software Modules (ISMs) for its Opsware System 3 IT automation software, it said Tuesday.
Loudcloud, which will soon rename itself Opsware Inc., says the ISMs bundle the software and control logic needed for configuring and modifying servers and applications. They will work with a range of operating systems, databases, Web servers and business applications and make it easier to work with a complex server setup, Loudcloud said in a statement.
Each ISM is designed to extend Opsware's automation functions for different applications, Loudcloud said. When deploying a new application, for example, the relevant ISM will prepare the server and then configure it to run that application in the best way possible.
Customers can also create their own ISMs or adapt the Opsware provided ISMs to suit their own environments, Loudcloud said.
