The cool Gatsby

February 22, 2001, 05:53 PM —  Network World —

Presenting a database through a Web server is a common problem -- and if that database undergoes frequent changes, the last thing you need is to have to recode or rebuild the Web interface for each change.

Gatsby from Gatsby Software (http://www.gatsbysoft.com) is one of the more effortless database-publishing solutions available.

Gatsby works with Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server. Other databases are supported through the Access tables linking feature.

Gatsby analyzes the design of a database and dynamically -- and without programming -- generates forms for you. If your database changes, the forms are automatically updated.

Access can be controlled via name and password. The Gatsby Database Explorer 3.0 Standard Edition provides a single logon ID for an unlimited number of users on a single database, while the Gatsby Database Explorer 3.0 Professional Edition allows for an unlimited number of users with different credentials on an unlimited number of databases. The Gatsby Database Explorer Gatsby SQL Server Edition is licensed according to the number of unique concurrent users (UCU) on a single Web site on a single server for an unlimited number of databases.

Gatsby Database Explorer 3.0 Standard is $495; Gatsby Database Explorer 3.0 Professional is $1,495; and Gatsby Database Explorer 3.0 for SQL Server (5 UCU) is $2,495 (an additional 10-UCU pack is $1,999 and a 25-UCU pack is $3,999).
