Relativity ships RescueWare for ADW

RELATIVITY TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCED this week a new version of its RescueWare product designed for migrating data away from the ADW (Advanced Development Workbench) environment. ADW is now known as Cool Enterprise, from Computer Associates.

Known as RescueWare for ADW, the new product is part of Relativity's efforts to help customers move off of 4GL languages and CASE (Computer-Aided Software Engineering) tool environments, such as ADW, Seer HPS, and Natural/Adabas, according to Vivek Wadhwa, CEO of Relativity, in Cary, N.C.

Wadhwa said that the product operates on a two-step design process. First the ADW code is put into Cobol, then the COBOL is transferred into Java. Once the transformation is done, the new code can be set it up in an environment of the customer's choice.

The new applications reduce operational costs and use 40 percent to 50 percent less code so they run faster, Wadhwa said.

"The disclaimer here is that there's no magic, there is work involved," he said. "But RescueWare can save 80-90 percent of time in transformation process."
