Nokia also demonstrated mobile electronic payment services that it has developed with Visa International and Helsinki, Finland-based bank Merita Nordbanken. The three showed how customers, using technologies including wireless technologies such as Bluetooth or infrared, can make online purchases at the point of sale via WAP phones. The remote online payment system uses a bank card, a WAP security layer called the WAP Identity Module, and SET (Secure Electronic Transaction).
