L.M. ERICSSON TELEPHONE is joining forces with Juniper Networks to create a mobile Internet joint venture, the companies said in a statement Thursday.

The venture will provide mobile Internet routing products to be sold by Ericsson to customers including ISPs and wireless operators building third-generation mobile and GPRS (Global Packet Radio System) networks.

The companies said they would marry Stockholm. Sweden-based Ericsson's mobile IP expertise with Mountain View, Calif.-based Juniper's experience in IP routing systems, to "bridge the technology boundary between mobile voice networks and IP data networks."
