February 05, 2001, 12:28 PM — In a move to bolster its PKI (public key infrastructure) firepower and business-to-business security presence, RSA Security Inc. announced last week that it has signed an agreement to acquire Xcert International Inc. for US$67.5 million. Xcert develops digital certificate-based products for protecting e-business transactions. Pending the acquisition's approval this month, Xcert Sentry, a certificate issuance and management product, will be absorbed into RSA's Keon product family.
