Telecom Italia, Vignette partner on hosting services

Telecom Italia SpA is to offer a hosted service based on Vignette Corp.'s Content Suite V6 content management tools, Vignette announced Thursday.

The Italian telecommunication operator will combine the service with other Web and application hosting services run from its existing data centers, and pitch the service to Italy's 2,000 largest companies, Vignette said in a statement.

The 120,000 users of Telecom Italia's global intranet will also gain access to personalized information managed by the software, according to the statement.

Among the new features in the recently-launched V6 software is a set of 17 data adapters which simplify integration with certain other systems, Vignette said.
