LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. -- Lotus this week is emphasizing wireless and mobile software offerings during the Lotusphere user conference. As part of that strategy, the company Monday said that its previously announced line of "Everyplace" software will be available in the first half of this year.

The new server software includes:

  • Domino Everyplace Access which will use Wireless Application Protocol to allow users whose companies use Domino software to access corporate e-mail, calendars and directories via devices based on wireless markup language. Domino Everyplace Access also will let users send and receive short messages to and from paging devices or those using short messaging service. Users further will be able to receive instant e-mail alerts from Domino-based applications, Lotus said.
  • Domino Everyplace Sync will provide server synchronization of e-mail, calendars, directories and to-do lists between wireless devices and Domino-based messaging and personal information manager software. The sync server will support Palm OS, Windows CE, Pocket PC, EPOC and SyncML devices.
  • Domino Everyplace Enterprise will allow developers to create business applications for mobile and wireless devices, including those running on Palm OS, Windows CE, Pocket PC and EPOC systems. Users will be able to work online or offline. The software will include Mobile Domino Designer, a new development tool aimed at allowing customers to migrate Domino-based business applications and to create new applications for PDAs and smart phones using Domino Designer. The corporate server software will also include Mobile Notes so that Notes functions can be used on handheld devices.
  • Pricing information for the Everyplace line will be announced when the products are generally available, Lotus said.

    Lotusphere continues through Thursday.
