Cap Gemini Ernst & Young launches networking business unit
Taking advantage of an alliance announced last March, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Cisco announced a new global business unit. Dubbed "Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Telecom, Media & Networks," the new organization plans to offer strategic counsel and expertise for the markets mentioned in the title of the unit. About 6,000 management and IT consultants currently operate in 24 locations throughout the US, Asia and Europe. Most were already on board via the former Cap Gemini Telecom and Media unit. As implied by the alliance, Cisco product lines will figure heavily into the proposed end-user solutions. Services are expected to include:
- Implementation of e-commerce and supply-chain integration applications.
- Integration/migration of voice and data networks.
- Delivery of new wireless applications.
- Delivery of broadband services.
- Implementation of unified messaging applications.
- Implementation of integrated call-center applications.
- Implementation of IP-based management systems.
The Cap Gemini Ernst & Young group holds a 95.1% stake in the alliance, with the balance held by Cisco.
