Some channel alliances making headlines include partnerships between Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Cisco; Andersen Consulting and Nokia; and Arthur Andersen and Blue Martini. Read on for details.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young launches networking business unit

Taking advantage of an alliance announced last March, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Cisco announced a new global business unit. Dubbed "Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Telecom, Media & Networks," the new organization plans to offer strategic counsel and expertise for the markets mentioned in the title of the unit. About 6,000 management and IT consultants currently operate in 24 locations throughout the US, Asia and Europe. Most were already on board via the former Cap Gemini Telecom and Media unit. As implied by the alliance, Cisco product lines will figure heavily into the proposed end-user solutions. Services are expected to include:

  • Implementation of e-commerce and supply-chain integration applications.
  • Integration/migration of voice and data networks.
  • Delivery of new wireless applications.
  • Delivery of broadband services.
  • Implementation of unified messaging applications.
  • Implementation of integrated call-center applications.
  • Implementation of IP-based management systems.

The Cap Gemini Ernst & Young group holds a 95.1% stake in the alliance, with the balance held by Cisco.

Andersen Consulting and Nokia launch WAP alliance

Andersen Consulting and Nokia have announced an initiative to help corporations and service providers move toward Wireless Application Protocol-based solutions. The two companies are developing a prepackaged bundle of wireless technologies and integration services aimed at Global 2000 corporations. The pact also provides for installation of Nokia's Activ Server into Andersen's network of technology showcase centers, where the product will be made available to Andersen clients.

Arthur Andersen cuts e-commerce deal with Blue Martini

With increased business-to-business e-commerce penetration clearly in mind, Arthur Andersen announced plans to deliver Blue Martini's Customer Interaction System. The customer relationship management system will be showcased in Andersen's solution centers in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The product's capabilities encompass multiple touch points such as Web sites, mobile wireless devices, e-mail, direct mail, online trading exchanges, call centers and brick-and-mortar outlets.
