Microsoft ships MOM management tool
Microsoft Corp. today announced the general availability of its new server management package, Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000.
MOM, which was given its first public preview in March, monitors the performance and availability of servers and applications. The software runs on Windows 2000-based servers and will also work with .Net Enterprise servers, the company said.
An add-on product, the Application Management Pack, is currently in beta testing and will provide additional functionality for .Net Enterprise servers, such as Exchange 2000 Server and SQL Server 2000 systems, when released, Microsoft said.
MOM monitors and collects data from Active Directory, Internet Information Server, Exchange and SQL Server, among others. The software is immediately available at a price of US$849 per processor for each server.
