You can download Windows Media Center for free (not for much longer though) to get DVD playback. There were some other alternative listed in a short article here on IT World not too long ago. What I would be careful of is spammers offering you a DVD player at a hefty price. Try one of the options listed in the article. I personally use the free VLC Player. There is no need to give away your hard earned money.
