It's really not that hard, you just have to take a couple more steps than you would for most other devices. HTC doesn't make it too hard for you though. One thing that makes it a little different on the One V is that you cannot pull your battery, but if you hold down the power button for 10+ seconds, then volume down and release the power button, it will take you to the bootloader mode.
