How do you define HYBRID cloud computing?

pcalento

Background:

Last week, I spent the better part of the week at the Cloud Connect conference in Santa Clara. One of the recurring themes was the emergence of hybrid cloud computing as the de facto state of the enterprise cloud ... essentially reflecting the fact that most organizations will use a variety of public, private and traditional IT resources. (see sample definition from Citrix's Ulander http://youtu.be/nf5LivUeNus via video). One challenge with the "hybrid cloud", however, is the myriad of definitions. What's yours?

Thanks in advance.

Well, here's Wikipedia's:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing#Hybrid_cloud

"Hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more clouds (private, community or public) that remain unique entities but are bound together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models. It can also be defined as multiple cloud systems that are connected in a way that allows programs and data to be moved easily from one deployment system to another."

That works for me. Heh. ;)
