equivalent of iwevent in mac os x

Hi.. I am trying to write an application for asynchronous event handling in mac os x.. it should be similar to iwevent.. could anyone please tell me what is the equivalent command of iwevent in mac os x.. can i get the source code of it as i have iwevent.c.. or can anyone tell me how to proceed with that..
