How likely is it that Amazon could actually implement a drone delivery service?

There have been stories on half of the websites I’ve visited today about Amazon exploring the use of unmanned drones for rapid delivery of orders. Is this a realistic possibility, or a sci-fi pipe dream?

I think the whole drone thing was a publicity stunt, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen. Then again, I could be wrong. You never know.

I would think the legal concerns will eventually ground this idea. Seriously, the deliveries would be in urban environments, which suggest a lot of people. How many times would it take a drone falling on a person to generate a multi-million dollar lawsuit? I’m estimating somewhere in the one range. I just can’t see this actually happening.
