How to hide a folder on a Mac?

Aryton

How can I make a folder invisible on Mac OS X? I’m planning a surprise vacation for my girlfriend this summer, and I don’t want her to stumble onto it while she is using my Mac to look at kitty pictures on reddit.

"Hiding existing folders is fairly easy:

Launch the Terminal, found in /Applications/Utilities/ or from Launchpad
Type the following command:

chflags hidden /path/to/folder/
When finished, close out of Terminal"
