Are all Xbox One disk drives extremely loud?

One of my friends is a pretty serious gamer, and he preordered both the XBox One and PS4. He invited me and some other folks over for a beer, burgers, and console unveiling, which was cool, except the hard drive on his XBox One sounds terrible. It clacks, whirs and grinds VERY audibly. My sample size for XBox One HDD noise is a grand total of one, so I don’t know if this is normal or not. It would load up games ok. Does anyone else have an XBox One, and if so, does the HDD on it sound like a broken blender?

No, that’s not normal, that’s a problem. He’s fortunate that it will even load up games. In fact, IGN had a similar problem with one of its test XBox Ones. Your friend should get in touch with Microsoft ASAP, they will almost certainly take care of it right away. I don’t think this is a very common problem, but it is happening enough that I had heard of it before reading your Question.
