How to turn off PS4 without controller?

aiden

Is there a way to turn off the PS4 console without using the controller? A buddy of mine just got one and while we were playing around with it, we found that it would only go into standby mode when we used the power button on the console. It can still be turned off using the controller, so it’s not really a big deal unless perhaps your controller battery is dead, but there still seems like there should be a way to do it.

You can shut down using the power button on the console, but you have to hold it down continuously for a really long time, probably at least 15 seconds.
