How to choose a password manager?

catamount

I’ve never used one before, and I don’t really know what to look for. However, with all the security breaches lately and the resultant password changes, this seems like that time to start. What should one look for when choosing a password manager?

The Best Password Managers
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407168,00.asp

"Online merchants and secure websites aren't doing a very good job of keeping your personal information safe. Even those sites using decent security practices may have been compromised by the recently discovered Heartbleed bug. If the bad guys nabbed your password, you're in trouble. But if you used that same password at other sites, you're really in trouble. You need to use a different strong password on every site, and the only practical way to do that is with a password manager.

If you aren't using a password manager, you need to start now. If you are, now's the time to change all your passwords and take note of those still vulnerable to Hearbleed; you'll have to change those again after they're fixed. Cost isn't an issue: some of the best don't cost a cent. If you already have one, maybe you'd like to upgrade? Here are some ideas to help you make a choice."

On the market, you can find a lot of password managers with different functions.

First of all, what OS you favour?

Windows, linux, iOS?

Which devices you use?

Pc/ mobile?

Secondly, better support is good for you.

Choose from companies, which have quick and friendly support.

What advantages would a password manager should have?

Password generator, form filler, passwords on local database,....

Five years ago, I chosen Sticky Password - http://www.stickypassword.com/

and I'm very satisfied.

I would put the ability to import password lists from other password managers near the top of the list, so if you change managers you do not have to manually enter in all of the information again. I would also look for multi-factor authentication as well - you REALLY want a password manager to stay secure.
