How to resolve “file sharing lock count exceeded” error message?


When using Microsoft Access 2007, we got the error message “file sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry.” What do I need to do to fix this?

There are more locks taking place to perform a transaction than allowed. As the error message suggests, you need to edit your registry. You need to be VERY careful when you do this. Microsoft has a guide on how to make the changes. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly!
