What is the best way to recover deleted files on a Mac?
My wife accidentally deleted some files on her Mac and wants me to help her recover them. I'm a Windows user and I've used Recova in the past with some success on PCs, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to go about trying to undelete Mac files. What do Mac users suggest using for file recovery?

Is your Mac set up with Time Machine? If so you should be able to get the deleted files that way. Click the Time Machine icon in the dock. Then go back to before you deleted the files, they are probably still available.

That link will take you to a page about Time Machine. Click the Restoring Data From Time Machine Backups option. That should get you started.

You might want to check out Disk Drill as well. It is not freeware to actually use Disk Drill to recover files, but it is free to install. Which is nice. I guess. Whatever, it is worth paying for anyway. It is very user friendly, so if you are not a Mac user, it should still be painless to use.
