What's the best mobile app for managing VMware environments?

rousseau

I need a mobile app for management of VMware environments. Normally, I would just use vSphere client, but I'm rocking a new Galaxy Note, and vSphere wont run on it. What is the best choice for an Android compatible app for managing VMware?

I think iVMControl from Project Eureka is probably your best bet.  There is an Android version, but you need to make sure that it is compatible with the Galaxy Note.  I know a couple of guys who use it, and it seems like they are always chatting about another new feature being added to the app.  I like the ability to use the app for screenshots of VMs.  I've played around with it a little, and the one thing I would note is that it performed better when monitoring over a WiFi connection than the somewhat dodgy 3G coverage we have here, but that isn't really surprising.

I'd do a search on "vmware" on your phone's app store. That at least would give you some possibilities that might run on your phone. It's a good way to start, and you could check out user reviews and scores probably as well.

InfraDog Server Mobile Admin: www.infradog.com

It support almost all vCenter functions ( vMotion, CPU/Memeory change/ Console etc.) on iOS and Android.

You can manage vCenter or ESXi anywhere No firewall opening, No agent , No VPN.

At same time you can manage VM from OS/IPMI level on mobile.

Thanks for the answer Tiger. We tried the Infradog server mobile admin app, the vmware management support is quite handy, includes many vSphere functions on mobile phone. The ablity to do vmoton and change individual VM's cpu/memory is wonderful on the go. Also, the app it self (UI, layout) is quite neat.

Hope this helps.

While I search for your query. I found the mobile app called Splunk App. Hope it will help you.Splunk provides a better approach to application management, enabling you to find and fix application problems faster to reduce downtime, gain end-to-end operational visibility of your key performance indicators and deliver new insights from your machine data to help the business make better decisions.
