Install Firefox 30 in Fedora Linux

How to install Firefox 30 on your Fedora Linux system

Firefox 30 has been released, here's how you can install it in Fedora Linux. Note that this will replace your current version of Firefox.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each:

For 32-bit Fedora:

wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/30.0/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-30.0.tar.bz2

tar -xjvf firefox-30.0.tar.bz2

sudo rm -rf /opt/firefox*

sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox30.0

sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox30.0/firefox /usr/bin/firefox

For 64-bit Fedora:

wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/30.0/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-30.0.tar.bz2

tar -xjvf firefox-30.0.tar.bz2

sudo rm -rf /opt/firefox*

sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox30.0

sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox30.0/firefox /usr/bin/firefox

3. Type in the following command and hit Enter to start Firefox:

firefox

Worth mentioning changes in Firefox 30:

Support for GStreamer 1.0

Users are able to access their social, bookmarks and history easier, via the sidebar button

Except for the whitelisted ones, the plugins will not be activated by default anymore

Mute and volume features for each window has been implemented.
