Install MATE 1.8 desktop in Ubuntu 13.10

Add version 1.8 of MATE to your Ubuntu 13.10 system


MATE 1.8 has been released, here's how you can install it in Ubuntu 13.10.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each.

sudo add-apt-repository "deb saucy main"

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install mate-archive-keyring

sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment

MATE 1.8 comes with support for window snapping/side-by-side tiling to the window manager, support for both Metacity and Marco windows managers, IEC units support for Caja, and a lot of bug fixes.
