Install MATE 1.6 in Debian Wheezy

Add the MATE 1.6 desktop to your Debian Wheezy computer

Here's how you can install MATE 1.6 in Debian Wheezy.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each.

sudo add-apt-repository 'deb http://repo.mate-desktop.org/debian wheezy main'

apt-get update

apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install mate-archive-keyring

apt-get update

3. You now have three options: Install the base packages, the base packages and extras, or the core and desktop environment and extras.

To install the base packages only, use this command:

sudo apt-get install mate-core

To install the base packages and some extras, use this command:

sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment

To install MATE core, the MATE desktop environment and the extras, use this command:

sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment-extra
