Take better iPhone pictures with your Apple headphones

What?! Yes, those earbuds can be used as a remote camera trigger

It's an old trick, but one you might not be familiar with unless you follow all the iPhone hacks that come out (and even if you cover Apple news every day, as Mike Wehner confesses): You can snap a photo on your iPhone remotely using the volume button on your headphones.

Just like you can when taking a photo on the device itself, press the volume up (+) button and the camera app will take the shot.

This comes in very handy when you're taking a selfie on your iPhone or have propped up the phone on a tripod or other surface for the sharpest, most stable, jitter-free shots.

It appears to work with Bluetooth headsets and non-Apple products, but your mileage may vary depending on the accessory.
