If you are like me you have probably spent a better chunk of the morning poring through the latestInternet Trends analysisfrom analyst Mary Meeker, who now works for VC firm KPCB. It's probably no surprise to readers of this site that mobility remains the biggest Internet trend of all, but the numbers are always a bit staggering when you see them in a chart.
Liz Gannes at All Things D does an excellent job of sussing out the top slides in Meeker's marathon presentation, correctly noting that mobility is trend No. 1. What jumped out at me are the slides Liz highlighted: Mobile Internet traffic is now at 15 percent of ALL Internet traffic, and still growing rapidly. The rise in tablets is equally stunning: In just three years in the market, tablets have already overtaken desktop PCs and laptops, with numbers headed higher.
What does this mean for enterprise mobility? Mainly that there's going to be more of it, as your workers, partners, contractors, customers and everyone else with a connection to your business is going to make that connection via a mobile route, sooner rather than later. How are you responding to that now? Where do you need to step up your game?
