Science Friday: How to pee in space

MinutePhysics and Smarter Every Day science podcast show us how astronauts got rid of waste

If you're not a fan of potty humor, you might want to skip this week's edition of MinutePhysics. Henry has teamed up with Smarter Every Day science podcaster Destin to create two videos discussing how astronauts got rid of their urine on their way to the moon.

Interestingly, because of the physics in space as well as the fuel needed for launching off the moon to get home, the astronauts needed to leave a bunch of trash on the moon, and that included some of their waste. Watch the video to learn more.

If you want to learn more, check out Destin's video, which provides some more details, as well as how the whole "bounce a laser off the moon" via corner reflectors thing works.

Wow, that's a lot of science for today. Time for a pee break. Luckily, I'm not in space.
