Squee alert: Doctor Who Christmas trailer hits the Web

Killer snowmen and Victorian lizards - Doctor Who is back!

Last night, the BBC posted up its trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas Special, as part of the Children in Need fundraiser (you can donate here if you're so inclined).

The episode will feature the new companion, Jenna-Louise Coleman (seen earlier this year in the first episode), as well as a sullen Doctor, who seems sullen now that Amy and Rory are gone. But fortunately for fans, we get to see the return of Madame Vastra, Strax and Jenny - huzzahs all around!

In addition, they also showed a "prequel" to the episode (Matt Smith calls them "mini-sodes"), in which Vastra, Jenny and Strax are trying to convince the moody Doctor to help them.

If you're interested in seeing what other British TV shows and entertainers did for the fundraiser, check out this page of video clips.

Christmas definitely came early for Doctor Who fans.
