I can't believe I missed the finals of the Toe Wrestling Championships last week in Derbyshire. While the rest of the world prepares for the Olympics next week in London, several other lesser-known sports are holding competitions from around the world. Here are some of the more bizarre things I've found, courtesy of our friends at ITN News:
The aforementioned Toe Wrestling Championships featured a champion named "Nasty Nash":
World Cup Soccer too boring for you? Get "down and dirty" with the Swamp Soccer World Title, held in Finland:
The Brits also love their peas, so why not hold the World Pea Shooting Championship? Yep, here it is, held in Witcham in Cambridgshire.
And finally, we have the Snuff World Championships, in which competitors from around the world "battle it out to put as much snuff up their noses as possible."
It's confirmed: Europeans are weird.
