In this video, we're treated to another sneak-peek at the engine running the new SimCity game. In this case, Gameplay Lead Dan Moskowitz talks about the situations where a fire can spread (hint: don't let your houses get abandoned), and what happens when a "fire event" begins. Note that the video doesn't include final graphics (I'm sure they'll be much more impressive), but it's showing the "rules" that the simulation follows.
My favorite part is that for this video, they didn't include a fire department, allowing the city to be destroyed. Just another lesson for cities and governments looking to cut the fire budget!
