Creepy robot can climb up your leg

Chinese "Clothbot" attaches itself to clothing for climbing purposes

Chinese scientists have presented this video in which we meet the Clothbot, a climbing robot that can crop and climb up various types of clothes. CREEPIEST THING EVER!

If you want to find out more about this robot, check out the paper, "System and Design of Clothbot: A Robot of Flexible Clothes Climbing," which was presented at this year's IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. The IEEE also has a blog post about the robot.

The authors aren't really clear about what this robot will be useful for, other than the obvious "kill and destroy all humans" aspect. The IEEE post mentions that these can be used for "body inspection", which should make the folks at the TSA squeal with glee, but it doesn't bode well for the rest of us. Can anyone think of some practical, non-human-killing purposes for a clothes-climbing robot?
