How to land on Mars: Very Carefully

Cool animation showcases methods for landing on the red planet

The "Mars in a Minute" series from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory today shows a cool one-minute animated video about the different ways you could land a spaceship or Rover-type vehicle onto the surface of Mars, preferably without burning up or smashing into tiny little bits.

Surprisingly, landing something on a planet is much harder than it seems like in all those science fiction films. I'll bet Han Solo and Chewbacca never had these problems landing on Tatooine or Hoth.
