At first glance, Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' looks like another Alien-like science-fiction tale complete with mysterious monsters, ancient civilizations and human beings that run around a lot trying to figure out what's going on (see the second clip below). But this clip, which just surfaced, shows another side of the movie. It features Michael Fassbender's android "David" discussing the role of artificial intelligence - if this is a big part of the movie, it may turn out that Prometheus could be the geeky hit of the summer.
In many of Scott's movies, the role of androids have always played a part - at least the first two Alien movies, as well as Scott's "Blade Runner". Some are saying that this film is a prequel to Alien, but I think saying that is giving it short shrift - viewers should go in thinking that this is a completely separate movie. If it turns out that it is a prequel, fine, but that shouldn't prevent anyone from deciding whether to watch this.
