Singer Jon Bon Jovi -- or at least someone who claims to be Jon Bon Jovi -- told concert-goers Monday night that he's not really dead, despite a widespread rumor that started on the Internet.
The rumor started Monday when a transparently bogus Wordpress blog called dailynewbloginternational posted a story about Bon Jovi's alleged demise.
It was the first post on the site, which went live on Monday (unlike Bon Jovi, if the rumors are true!). No doubt we can look forward to many more quality scoops from this respected news source.
From there the "news" spread quickly on Twitter, where reaction ranged from skepticism to sadness, depending on how many beers readers had.
Bon Jovi clearly hoped to dispel the rumors by taking the stage at a benefit concert in Red Bank, N.J., performing some of his hits, a few Christmas songs and make several joking references to his alleged death.
Well-intentioned, to be sure. Sadly, we no longer live in a world where we can trust what we think we see in "real life." Just ask Alex Jones.
Fortunately, we have something better and more reliable than real life: Facebook! And on his wall, the singer posted a picture of his live, breathing self, along with a partially disturbing message:
"Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey" -jbj. Rest assured that Jon is alive and well! This photo was just taken.
